The Sarasota County Venice Gardens Water Reclamation Facility

TREATMENT:
The permitted capacity of the Venice Gardens WRF is 3.0 MGD, 3-month ADF. The modified facility treats domestic wastewater with the Modified-Ludzack Ettinger process. The major units of the modified facility consist of: two mechanical screens, one manual screen, two 98,000-gallon anoxic tanks, two 786,400-gallon aeration tanks, four 3,000-scfm blowers, two 65-foot diameter clarifiers, two 646-square foot disk filters, 78,259 gallons of chlorine contact volume, 1.48 million gallons sludge holding volume, two lined reject ponds (total storage is 5.26 million gallons), and an odor control system. Additional flows can be diverted to the Venice Eastside WWTF, FDEP Permit No. FL0041441, prior to the head works of the plant.
REUSE:
The Sarasota County South Master Reuse System (SCSMRS) Land Application. Is an 8.157 MGD AADF permitted capacity consisting of slow rate public access reuse system (R-001).
DISPOSAL:
Underground Injection 1:
An existing 7.9 MGD, 5,486 gallons per minute maximum, disposal permitted capacity underground injection well system U-00I consisting of one Class I underground injection well, discharging to Class G-IV ground water.
Underground Injection 2:
A 9.8 MGD, 6,805 gallons per minute maximum, disposal permitted capacity underground injection well system U-002 consisting of one Class I underground injection well, discharging to Class G-IV ground water.
