Job Placement Committee

It shall be the duty of this committee to receive requests from operators and employers for assistance in finding positions in the operating field and in selecting qualified operators, respectively. Every consideration will be given operators residing and receiving their training in the State of Florida as opposed to operators residing outside of the State of Florida. Every effort will be made to furnish prospective employers only the names of operators qualified to perform the duties incorporated in the prospective position.

The operator shortage continues to exist. On occasion, recruiters throughout the state have complained of their inability to hire qualified persons, and a few more have been willing to accept trainees. I make it a rule to inquire whether a company/municipality will accept a trainee, bringing up the inability of our trainees to obtain jobs in order to qualify for their licenses. The new system has helped some, but the problem remains.
